Overview

I was involved in developing a mobile application designed to revolutionize the recycling industry. The app addressed critical issues like geographic inconsistencies in recycling rules, the lack of information on recyclability, and the need for sustainable waste management practices.

Role

My role in this project was multifaceted, involving the integration of AI-powered image recognition for sorting assistance, the development of a chatbot for repurposing items, and the establishment of a C2B & C2C secondhand marketplace. This involved both technical development and strategic planning to ensure the app's features effectively addressed the identified problems.

Challenge

The primary challenge was to design and implement solutions that could adapt to the diverse recycling guidelines across different regions, along with promoting a culture of reuse and recycling among consumers. Additionally, creating a sustainable economic model for recycled materials in the face of global market collapses presented a significant hurdle.

Solution

The app utilizes AI to instantly inform users about the recyclability of items based on their specific location, directly addressing the issue of geographic inconsistency and reducing sorting errors. The chatbot suggests creative repurposing ideas, encouraging users to adopt a more circular economy mindset. Finally, the C2B & C2C marketplace fosters a new economic ecosystem for recycled materials, connecting customers and businesses in a mutually beneficial way. This holistic approach aims to enhance recycling efficiency, reduce waste, and promote sustainability.
